Presidents Day

Yesterday was President's Day.  Toddlers do not yet get the concept of Presidents and our government, but that doesn't stop us from making a craft of my two favorite historical people, George and Abe.

I also thought this would be a good time to examine pennies (Abraham Lincoln is on the penny after all!).

 All you need is dirty pennies, 2 clear cups, 1/2 cup of vinegar

 and 2 teaspoons of salt, dish soap and water.

First we washed the pennies in soap and water.

Next we washed it in our 'magic water' (vinegar and salt).

The kids were amazed at the difference between the dirty pennies and the new, clean pennies.
