It's Raining, It's Pouring

We tried a science experiment to make rain.
I got the idea from Green Kid Crafts.
The idea is pretty simple and the kids had fun!

Items needed: Tea pot, ice, water, and plate.
Step 1: Boil water and pour 1/3 of the glass jar.  (I used a heavy glass cup because I didn't have a mason jar on hand). Cover with plate.
Step 2:  Let the plate sit on the jar a few minutes.
Step 3:  Add ice to the plate and watch closely to see what happens to the jar.
Water will start to trickle down the inside of the jar.
It’s raining!!!

The City Mouse and The Country Mouse

After reading the story, the kids created their own city mouse and country mouse.
We talked about the differences between a city and country.
Next we cut out pictures that looked like the city and country.

Happy Easter

CRAFTS

SONGS

Hop Around
(tune: If You're Happy and You Know It)

If you like the Easter Bunny, [hop around].
If you like the Easter Bunny, [hop around]
If you like the Easter Bunny
and you think he's very funny,
If you like the Easter Bunny, [hop around].

[twitch your nose]
[thump your feet]
[shake your tail]

I'm a Little Bunny
(tune: I'm a Little Teapot)

I'm a little bunny (point to self)
See me hop (hop up and down)
Watch my ears go flippity flop (flip-flop hands like ears).
My tail is soft as cotton, look and see! (pretend to wag tail).
My nose wiggles, so wiggle with me! (wiggle nose).

Jelly Bean Game

Graph
Place jelly beans out (I recommend a container or plate so the jelly beans aren't rolling off the table) and have the children match the jelly beans to the correct color and place it in that column.

Reinforce the activity
Have the child count the number of jelly beans in each column.

Additional math skills
After the child counts one column, let her eat one of the jelly beans.  Then have her recount the column. Explain that she had 5 beans, ate 1 and now has 4 beans.

Note:  I hand-made a cutout of an easter basket and used a rule to draw columns with color codes on the top.

We're going on an Egg Hunt

Before we could go on an egg hunt, we had to decorate our Easter bags.

After decorating our easter bags.... we went on an egg hunt!

 Happy Easter!
